I always get germination around 4-7 days. Two to three weeks is long. Could be old seeds. Are they getting plenty of sun, warmth, and humidity?

I did not soak the seeds but essentially did everything else as suggested.

Seeds were planted in a thoroughly wetted but then drained mix of potting soil, perlite, and 2mm crushed granite in ratio about 1/1/1. Placed apart and covered with a thin layer of sand and then put in a plastic bag.

Situated in light from a nearby window and on grid over a seed starter mat. The temperature at the base of the pots reads 21.5 C. Mid Fall weather here but rather more overcast and rainy than usual.

Just received some different seeds and will soak them prior to planting as well. Also, we are predicting fair weather for at least the next 5 days.

Elena.. Thanks for the comment and info. The 21.5 C was about the minimum nighttime temperature I've seen to date. It gets higher during daytimes, but I doubt it ever gets to 30 C. I have a small digital thermometer beside the pots and the highest I've seen so-far is about 25-26 C on a bright sunny day. I have a couple of Max-Min units on order, but they haven't arrived yet so I can't say for sure.

I could maybe get a degree or so higher by placing the pots directly on the heated mat, but I'm reluctant to do that. The grid is made from a fluorescent ceiling fixture light diffuser, and is 5/8 inch square holes with 1/16 inch walls (>80% open area) and is only about 1/4 inch thick so not much heat obstruction, but spreads the weight of the pots over a wider area.

I've only planted my seeds in warm months and outdoors. I'm sure that helps contribute to my fast germination. I have no idea what to expect for fall months and being indoors.

Obviously adenium seed are not too happy about germinating in Fall and Winter.

Planted new seed on Nov 8 after 4 hour soaking. Placed on heat mat in plastic bag in SE window and with Light (1400 lumen LED) about 4 inches above soil level. 2 pots 5 seed each. After 5 days 1 was up in first pot and 4 remaining had made bumps indicating some action, no indications in second pot. Then the cold came.

After 2 weeks 1 more has broken through but hasn't dropped seedcoat yet and second pot has barely begun to show mounds. Looks like Spring would be a much better idea.

I seem to have germination success (80%) by planting my seeds in a plastic food container; place soil in container and dampen lightly and the place the seeds in the slightly damp soil. I then water well (not soak) with a spray bottle and slide the container in a zip bag and zip the bag closed. Place the bag atop a water heater for warmth. Check back in 3-4 days and move into the light.
