proper notation pod and pollen order

Hi,

I've found conflicting information regarding notation of parents in some threads. I'm still waiting for an answer from the AHS for several days. Daylily X has parentage of A x B . Is it "ladies first" or daddy first? Is A the pod or the pollen? Is this consistant notation with orchids and other plants?
