Has anyone had experience raising the height o their bathroom cabinets? Do you have pictures? We have custom wood cabinets and our house wa built in 1986. Thanks.

In older homes 29' was the standard vanity height, whereas, 34" High is now considered standard. If you cabinets were built in 1986 I suggest you just go for new cabinets. They are 32 years old, so you definitely got your money's worth, time to go new!

I am looking for areas to reduce the redo expenses. The bathroom is 9x14 with does not include the toilet closet which is across from the long wall. There is a walk in closet across from the tub that is 5 1/2” x14”. Give me your ideas.

    1. Keep the same footprint purchasing new white cabinets all drawers instead of shelves, new countertops, new tub (still undecided undermining or freestanding), new shower & new floor and framed mirrors.
    Or
    2. Remove the shorter counters and add a closet which would move the sinks to the long wall. The price is about the same because of demo & build of the closet.
9’x9’. We could use more storage but I am unable to imagine it and concerned about cutting the bath down.

Both estimates are app.$26,000 with materials about $8000.

    Give me your thoughts.

You might want to post this in the bathrooms forum along with a layout of your current space with dimensions. Also, what are you looking to accomplish with this reno? What currently works in your space and what doesn't? With this info, you're sure to get quite a few ideas. Good luck!

2 more pictures I apologize for the mess-since my decision to redo things are a mess and all accessories, etc are gone.

Last 2 pictures of material I am looking at
white cabinets with caesarstone-Nobile Grey or Elements Quartz Bianco Marina. There are not any windows but a large skylight and I am hoping getting the gold taupe will brighten the room. (Also it is a cloudy day)

We want to update & clean-up. our house is traditional and would like to go more transitional. We have tall ceilings and lots or crown throughout. The DR/LR/Enty are all open.

If you are spending $34,000 on this bath, why would you even consider not replacing those vanity cabinets? In my opinion, it would also be well worth the money to hire a local designer, even if it is only for a few hours to help you with this project. For us here on Houzz to help, we will need a drawing of the rooms layout with detailed measurements. From what I am seeing you need a complete reno and a consultation with a closet specialist who may be able to help you maximize the storage area you already have, or at least give you a better idea of whether or not you need to enlarge the closet to get the storage you need. I would definitely get rid of the walls in the front of the shower and use a frameless glass shower door when redoing the shower.
