My soil has a lot of fine pine bark. The soil mixture is 3:2:1 not exactly but somewhat like this. 3 part is pine bark fine and two part is super market potting soil probably peat moss and one part is parlite. However the used soil is like 3:1:1 still I do not understand did the roots ate some of the peat moss :). May be when I watered the plants the peat moss and small particles dripped away with the water.

The idea of potting soil mix is come from Tapala's 5:1:1 but according to the climatic condition here and my growing skill 3:2:1 is easier to balance the moisture in the soil.

I used a huge amount of fine pine bark, the first time I throw away the used soil, the second season I used it again. I have read in thehotpepper.com about composted pine bark. It convinced me more better, these used fine pine barks are now well composted. It could be better than the fresh fine pine bark.

I will add some slow release fertilizer and a bit of dolomite lime but depends on the pH levels.

Once I was lucky my soil pH levels was 6 to 6.5 that season my plants were more healthier than the other seasons. Usually the soil available here is pH levels 7. I have read vinegar can lower the pH levels but I like naturally pH levels 6 to 6.5.
