Behold! My first figs!

These are the Marseilles VS black figs. I thought they would get a lot blacker, but I guess deep brown is as close as I'm going to get. I looked online, and I guess this is a pretty common color. I had to pick them because they were splitting. They are the sweetest figs I've ever tasted. I'll definitely be keeping this fig bush and finding a great place for it somewhere.

I have 2 huge pots I got from next door when they planted some trees at that complex, but I don't know if that isn't maybe too big right now, since they're only in 2 gallon pots. I also have one 10 and two 15 gallon pots, so I may just stay on the safe side and avoid root rot by only doing those for a year. I also have a large terracotta pot (maybe 10-15 gals) that I was planning on planting the Celeste in. The Marseilles VS seems to grow rampantly, so I may find a place for it in the ground if I can.

Thank you to my dear GW friend who sent me the cuttings for these figs. I didn't do a great job of rooting them (I'm too attentive), but I'm so happy these two survived.

I have a friend who also wants to give me a brown Turkey fig plant, but I think I'll pass. I don't have enough room here for too many trees, and I really want a peach tree.
