After Meyer lemons, LOL... Cara Cara is my favorite citrus. In my climate they produce fruit the whole year.

I don't see any pictures. Congrats on your first fruit. I am still waiting on my tree to produce.

Congrats on your Cara Cara, I have one that I planted in ground just under 3 years ago, it is now a bit over 7 ft tall, but not fruit from it yet. I had hopes this past year as it had a few blooms, but unfortunately no fruit developed. Maybe next year will be its year, though I am concerned about it as it has thorns, which may indicate that it has mutated, as it is certainly not root stock, which is a trifoliate.

Laura, I can only imagine how tired you were after lugging your trees in. That Cara Cara Orange looks gorgeous and absolutely delicious! Congrats!

I tasted a store bought Cara for the first time last season and it was yummy! I will need to check the stores to see if they are available now. My tree is still young so no fruit this year but I am really looking forward to it producing. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! Ike, mine is not very thorny and is not a big tree at all. I’ve had it for maybe 5 years and it has been slow to grow. I probably should not have let it grow three oranges, but I did not realize how many it kept till they were big. I got the tree from fast growing trees back when I first started collecting citrus. In a minute, I’m going to start setting up the lights...that should be a joy ;)

I am drinking breakfast juice from my rooftop Cara Cara as we speak. Unlike the Washington Navel, the Cara Cara also makes delicious juice.

BTW I am now the proud grower of 6 new MidKnight Valencia trees, IMO the best juice orange in the world today.

Beautiful color! I will have to see what citrus is available in the store now. Flu season has arrived and I need and want my Vitamin C.

I was thinking about you because we had the same freeze warning up here. It was 30F here this morning as my low. When I saw the long range forecast last weekend, I had to try to time the bring-in of what was still outside, around the gully-washer rains on Tuesday and a brief dry period with a little warmth (60s) the day after, followed by more rain due this past Friday and cold... so that I would minimize the temp differentials. Ended up bringing mine in this past Wednesday and was able to give them a last HO spray in the morning and give the pots a scrub. All but one are still sitting in my livingroom. lol I did take my NZL upstairs and will try to start moving the rest (some upstairs, some down to the basement) today. My limes have been inside for almost a month now.

Jenny, we had a low of 32 this morning, so I got them inside in the nick of time. They’re now cozy in their winter quarters with lights. I’ll post pics under Mike’s thread. I did get in one good HO spray concoction a few days before they came in. I’m sure something will creep in though. I kind of hope that the cold and rain has cleansed them some...:)

Your cara cara fruit looks gorgeous, the color is perfect, Laura! The longer growing period outdoors does wonders for the trees. Cara cara is one of my favorite citrus fruits.

I hear you about bringing the trees in. It stinks. I just brought all of mine in day before yesterday. What a HUGE project but this time I stuck them on the porch just in case I get more warm days.lol I wil keep them in there since it gets lots of light until the temps on the porch start to hit the freezing point. Last night it was 28 degrees outside and 42 on the porch, so not bad yet. I dread turning all the lights on and setting up again. Please, show us yours et up again once it;s completed and the lights are turned on)

I decided to put them into a state of suspended animation. So much eaiser but I do miss them actively growing..(
