If it were my room I would first paint the walls and the ceilings all one pale color and get some great curtains for the window wall.

What's nice about window treatments like drapes is you can open them to let in the natural light. And yes, pictures above the bed might be nice. Do you need more storage in this room? Do you use the recliner? What are the room's dimensions? I'm sure overhead lighting can be installed on a slanted wall. Experts can chime in with suggestions. IMo the first thing is new bedding in something you love color and style wise. I find bedding a great place to start with a new design. I always love drapes in a bedroom they make the space feel cozy . I never really undestand the need for daily sun when in most cases the bedroom is used at night What colors do you like? What is your favorite style? BTW that style can be quite different from the rest of the house.

I like both your paint color and bedding. I might just make the bed differently. Tighten the sheets neatly and fold down the duvet to the end is how I make my bed. I have a similar color paint and wood furniture that I mixed with woven blinds and grey panel curtains on the Windows. Wall sconces are a nice option in rooms without overhead lighting. This is how I envision your bed linens made.

I dislike overhead lighting in a bedroom. Generally too harsh and creates odd shadows. Lamps are more flattering and relaxing. I echo roarah comments to make the bed in a neater, tighter fit. Curtains from the ceiling to the floor will also soften the room. Perhaps a colorful rug under the bed towards the dresser?

find some inspiration pictures with your color of bedspread/comforter. then build from that.
