Yeah, a symmetrical arrangement looks a bit off on an asymmetrical wall. You need to balance the doorway with something large, either a lamp or a large plant.

Agree that you would be much better with the TV next to the fireplace rather than over it, but unless you can return that lower cabinet for one 2-3x as wide, that ship has probably sailed.

Thank you all for the helpful suggestions. The TV idea would work well in that area, but we cannot return the cabinet. I’ll search for a modern lamp, or large a plant.

Take the shelves out on the right side get a nice low cabinet mount the TV on an adjustable mount that can pull out from the wall and be at the right viewing height.Those shelves on the left will have to have very little on them and maybe need to be stuck down since they will be in danger of getting knocked off so tight to the doorway. I don’t think I would have done the shelves at all.Use that cabinet somewhere else or maybe even for an end table
