floral, yes the white ones are very nice, too. You should try coum since it flowers at a different season. There are still a few hederifolium in flower though the constant rainfall has battered them.

Hederifolium here tend to flower from late August to maybe October, they're long done now..but leave the beautiful leaves for the winter.

I never did have much persistent luck with coum, I have a couple now that I planted two years ago...and I'm hopeful (but we'll see). I actually ordered ten, but tried various places as experiments as to where they were happy and have two left.

Purpurascens goes belly up in summer here and rots. I don't know how many I killed from Ellen Hornig.

I've never had any cyclamen self-sow as people advertise.

That being said, I think I need to find a few more hederifolium, any recommendations as good (and possibly cheap) places?

John Lonsdale in Pennsylvania sells very nice high quality plants. I used to live in that area and visited his garden many times. Nobody is a better grower. He was originally from the UK. He sells many types of bulbs. I appreciate his options on the leaf forms of hederifolium.

Carol, good to see you posting here! I don't know if you remember but years back you shared cyclamen seed with me and I've been hooked ever since. Hederifolium does well here, coum hangs on and occasionally seeds around, and purpurascens is slowly beginning to spread. Each has its charm but I think purpurascens is my favorite.

You also sent me one of my first special snowdrops. That has not gone well at all ;)

Kato, I am sure you have been growing new bulbs ! Purpurascens is very nice since the foliage doesn't disappear and you can appreciate that.

Hederifoium seeds around and I've moved tubers from a neighbor's property since I'm the only person in the area to have Cyclamen in a garden setting.

I have also lost bulbs... from the constant rainfall here , We just have to select the highest areas with good drainage. Many Cyclamen are by the front of my house.

What a nice range of patterns and shape. They really give you something to look forward to as everything else is shutting down for the winter.

Yes, it's really amazing the variety and different patterns . Many of these are by the front of the house beneath some shrubs. They are seeding around a bit. Another patch is beneath pine trees on a slope where Chimaphila maculata also grows. The leaves of that along with the Cyclamen look quite nice.

One cannot have too many patterns!
