Sky Blue Accent Wall?

We just bought a condo that is probably the ugliest piece of real estate we ever purchased. Everything will need to be replaced and updated...in time. But painting and flooring are getting done before we move in.

The 2nd floor condo is in PHX and the only 3 windows face SW but get very little direct light because of the patio above us and the fact that the windows are not directly on an exterior wall but face the patio.

We will be replacing the entire flooring with LVP in a medium gray. The living/dining and kitchen paint is where I am struggling. I had tried painting a foam board with DEC791 Cloud, LRV 63 it is a GY gray and it is too dark.

I thought maybe a sky blue accent wall which would be seen when you first walk in might add some interest. So should the accent color be chosen first then look for a gray paint for the rest of the living space?

Our painter uses Dunn Edwards but I know I can pick any color from any brand. Here are some Dunn Edwards blues that I like.

Arctic Blue DE5841 LRV65 in the PB family

Ice Castle DE5840 LRV76 in the PB family

Cloudless DE5861 LRV74 in the PB family

I have my eye on a charcoal gray sofa which I plan to put at a slight angle along the accent wall.

The gray paint that I would like to test next is;

Vapor DE6358 LRV76 in the B family

Thank you for any advice, it is greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the new condo! Choosing paint should always, in a perfect world, come last. But since we are in this world,do you have a pic or link of your floor choice? That could help us visualize. My strong inclination would be to paint that accent wall after the furniture is in place.

No accent wall simply because it isn’t. that important. On that wall I would hang a huge canvas. But I like th idea of blue, but the one you have chosen is too blue. A gay blue could work throughout the entire condo (except the bathroom, which I would choose a a coordinate. S.W. Misty would be easy to live with; make up for the fact there is low light; and is neutral enough to go with just about anything.

    Thank you HollyBar.

I don't know if painting the accent wall after will happen. In the past, we have the flooring put in first then the place painted. The painters usually give you a break on the painting if they don't have to move furniture.

We actually own a smaller 2BD/2Ba condo in the same complex but will be selling it after we close on January 2, 2019. So I have time to figure this all out.

We did look at Floor and Decor at LVP. They had a cool medium gray but we thought it might be too thin and wanted to look at other flooring with more sound proofing which we will need to add as a separate install or find a LVP with a high enough rating.

Also, we will be getting new living room furniture. One of the reasons is because we wanted a sofa bed to accommodate more guests. Our other unit was too small to do that.

    Thank you JudyG!

I just realized that Misty is the color of the living room that you posted above! It looks gray on SW website.

I do have a large canvas picture that I will be bringing from the other condo. See below. My taste is definitely more contemporary. This room is painted BM Barely Teal.

I am a little afraid of the Misty by SW, with a LRV64.

Cloud by DE was LRV63 and it looked so dark. I fear of having a condo cave look, yikes.

Has anyone used any of these Dunn Edwards colors and if so could you please post a photo.

I am not finding too many pro photos of rooms that are painted with Dunn Edwards. I realize DE is not a major company like BM and SW but still, in the southwest this paint rocks!

JudyG Designs had suggested to use a more gray blue and these are what I could find. Is Ice Fishing still too blue?

I also found Harbor Afternoon DE5882, Clear Vision DE5875, and Whisper Blue DE5910. But no photos that I could use to post on here only on DE's website.

Anyone have anything else by DE in a gray blue that is light?

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!
