Hi guys, I am just starting to get into planting things. (Im 32.. never planted anything in my life) I cannot believe I didn't think of joining a forum in the first place!

This is my first time growing anything and I kinda went a bit overboard on equipment, I'm using an Electric Sky light. The tent is typically around 60-80 degrees with 50% humidity (from bot to top roughly)

I couldn't find 8/10/10 fertilizer so I just used 10/10/10 (on October 28'th) and have been watering once a day when I turn on the light for roughly 8 hours. I'm curious if that is a good schedule for them.

Symptoms :

Curling leaves

LOTS OF BUGS (not sure why.. room is pretty clean and away from animals)

Slight yellowing

Dead looking spots (RARE)

Cures I have tried :

Vinegar + Dish soap

Sticky Strips for Bugs (WORKS GREAT! However a hassle to handle)

Peroxide + Water after churning top soil (I'm afraid of harming the plant?)

Less Water

Concerns :

Virus Virus Virus, I keep reading about viruses and it is scurry!

Please let me know how these plants look to you and anything that I could be doing better with the information given would be great!

Curious why you are watering daily? what method are you using to determine the plant needs water?

Daily is WAY too much water.

Though the pepper photos look pretty healthy. My overwintering ones this year don't look nearly as good.

The most important aspects are light (pretty much as much as you can give), heat (60-85F), and water (when needed...not constantly).

Your plants look healthy.

Real soap with water is effective to kill aphids. I use 10 ml real liquid soap with one liter filtered water or rainwater, spray 2 to 3 times a week.

Sticky Yellow Strips is very good for killing fungus gnats, I use every season. I have read about hydrogen peroxide and water can kill fungus gnats larva but never tried.

The soil I use, water once a week with fertilizer. I use tomato fertilizer NPK 3-1-4. Before I water I checked the soil moisture and weight accordingly I water.

For indoor plants I use a small fan it helps a lot to the plants, it makes the plant stronger and upper soil also keep dry.

Now I have a lot of overwinter plants I keep the room temperature around 20 C.

Hey thanks so much everyone for your comments. So the bugs I have are for sure fungus gnats! (I use strips but they keep coming back.. Maybe cause I am watering too much?)

The reason I have been watering daily (and probably WAY too much) is cause the leaves are turning yellow and curling. I have no real sense of when to water them so any tips would be real helpful.

I give the plants around 8 hours of light a day, should I wait to see when they start wanting to sleep? I have just been consistent with 8 hours.

I have a small fan in there at the moment and I leave the tent cracked for fresh air.

Thanks again for your comments dudes. Ya'll don't think I have a virus problem then yet do I? When should you chuck a plant? I guess that's partially what I am asking.

Here is a picture of the three smaller ones. I was simply curious what pot size would do and sure enough they are smaller haha. How do THESE look ??

Soil moisture meters are junk and sticking your finger into the top of the soil doesn’t give you a sense of what’s happening deeper in the pot.

use a sharpened wooden dowel and stick it in the soil all the way to the bottom and then pull out and inspect.

Dark, damp with soil clung to it = don’t water.

Clean and dry = water. Check every couple days.

when you water, water throughly so water drains through and comes out the drain holes, but never let the plant sit in the used water, discard right away.

The yellow, curing and gnats are all caused by over watering.

id give the plant 12hr of light daily instead of 8.
