Fireblight on raspberry?

I had been seeing a bit of this in the new growth in my raspberries for the last couple of summers. But this year when I pruned out the old canes (late in August) I found that I had a lot of issues. Much of the new growth was dead or half-way there. Some canes were black and withered to the tip with the characteristic "shepherd's crook" shape that I associate with fire blight in apples (the only plant that I've seen it on). Other canes had brown, dead patches on the canes. There was little good vigorous growth left so I decided to dig out the whole patch and discard the crowns. Is this fire blight? Is it common in raspberries?
