Grow Light recommendations for wintering a single plant?

Lillian Barnes

Hello there friends! With the long and dark winter that we always have here settling in, I'm considering splurging on a dedicated light just for my single amaryllis plant I have. What I have now works decently, but there's definitely room for improvement, and I think my little houseguest deserves it. :)

The only problem is, I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for! Research suggests I'm looking for "daylight" temperatures around 6000K, T5 or T8 perhaps? I was thinking a regular fluorescent light, 3 feet or so long, and the related equipment, casing/cords, etc- or would a CFL in a standard lamp be better? Most of my other plants are either bought specifically to tolerate low light or are small compact succulents who sit happily in rows on my lighted shelf setup, so buying an individual specialty light is new to me!

Any suggestions for what to look for or even direct amazon/etc links to recommendations would be excellent!
