Mixed-up fig...

I've got a Celeste fig that has lost its sense of time/season. It didn't begin to leaf out until well into June. Indeed, I was about to up-root the thing to reuse the big pot it's in when I noticed the first vestiges of green. It eventually leafed out - albeit months late - and bore little fruit, unlike previous years. Leaves fell off with autumn, more or less on time. But now it's starting to leaf out again, even with a shorter photo-period and colder nights.

How can I reinforce its sense of season? Keep it shaded and cold, or somewhat protected and warmer. It's - supposedly - zone 8A here, but some winters as of late have only had a few nights below freezing. Last year, the lowest temp was only 22F.

Cheers
