Question about fuzzy bugs

It’s getting colder, so there aren’t many insects around. Was surprised to see a good sized Gulf Fritillary caterpillar still alive today. The lowest temperature we had so far was 20.5 degrees. I have learned that bees with some hair (like bumble bees) can fly in colder temperatures than others. Does the same go for other insects? Seems most I see now have some fuzz to them. And no, I don’t know what they are.
