while I like the idea, I do think it's too small, compact for that wall space. something longer by half, or even double, would look better.

I think the table size is is ok, but can you add a big potted plant/tree on the left?

I think part of the reason it looks too small is you’re crowding it with too many things. Try removing the ottomans and some of the stuff on the table. Right. now it looks too busy.

I think it's better, but hard to tell because the camera angle changed :) I think the little ottomans do not work where you have them, don't know if they would fit elsewhere in your foyer (which appears larger or smaller depending on the angle) or if you could move them to a new location altogether.

Something still seems to be a little off. Not sure I love the mirror being almost the exact width of the table, and I think it needs to be a little higher if you keep it.

What height are your ceilings... I do think the decor with high ceilings has to be significantly different... the scale has to be just right, otherwise the furniture becomes overwhelmed by the space.

Such a pretty ceiling and entryway! Love the double doors also...

Have you considered moving the mirror up just a bit? I feel there is too much space between the ceiling and the top of the artwork. You could shop your home for a nice large painting to give you an idea of scale that will work :) :

Alternatively, just let a nice large piece of art speak for itself, and don't have a table at all!

Thank You! The ceilings are 10 ft and the foyer measures 9x14. The wall the mirror is on is 14 long so everything tends to look short on it. But since the doors are double I need to leave room for the door to swing back.

What is the size of your mirror? I had a painting that looked great in a 10' ceiling house, and I will go and measure it and let you know :)

So I had a 38" x 52" painting on canvas positioned over a fireplace that was 43" high. The painting was about 4" above the fireplace, so the top of the painting was over 8'. This might be a bit higher than the position you want... my wall was 10' but had a 12' tray.

I currently use this same painting by itself on the wall of my foyer, which only has 8' ceilings.... here, the top is about 18" from the ceiling. Had a bench under it for a while but way too busy for the current foyer.

This is just to give you some idea on scale and positioning and what in my opinion looks right :)

The mirror measures 44 high x 35.5 wide.

I'm going to look for a bigger console but in the mean time do the chairs or stools look better? I need some sort of seating for when our parents visit so they can get their shoes on and off etc. without trying to balance themselves At the same time.

I really like it when you put the stools to each side of the console instead of under it. That is a great solution.

So when visiters remove their shoes where do the shoes go? When shopping for a new console getting something that could store the shoes might be nice.

A shoe cabinet something like this can serve as a console and also hold the shoes out of sight. I reallly like the chairs on each side as opposed to the little stools, much more fitting to the size and elegance of your entry.

Thanks. Im not sure we need the shoe storage. We have a mudroom that we use as our entry from the garage with shoe storage in it. Our parents wouldn't take the time to put their shoes in the cabinet. lol! unfortunately... Im lucky to get them to take them off. Haha.

I would do something slightly bigger than your mirror and a console table that is a little more fuller. It will help fill out the wall space since its so open. I don't know what size your current console table is, but this one is 52.5" wide. See example below. Good luck!

I agree with erinsean- chairs look much better, but yes a plant/tree will fill the space nicely! It doesn't have to be symmetrical.

I am glad you are looking for a larger console. The one you have now is too small, although it does look better with the chairs. For the time being, I would bring the chairs closer to the table.

Do you think this cabinet would look good? My only concern is the light color. Do I need something bolder? I'm so use to the black cabinet there it's just hard to visualize the lighter color.

I think your round rug with a beautiful round wooden table on top of it would look gorgeous. Centered under the light. With a large ceramic pot filled with flowers or a tall, full plant. Large Art in the wall to the left as you enter. A classic entry that can be contemporary or traditional.
