Gifted a beautiful hoya!

A friend asked me if I wanted her hoya as it had grown too big and attracted ants because of all the constant flowers. I have a soft spot for obovata so I said yes :D (I already have 4, lol)

It's so top heavy it's leaning against my wall otherwise it falls over. Needs repotting and a heavier cache pot. I lost count after 35 active or flowering peduncles. Who knows where I'll put it but I couldn't say no to this grand old lady!

I'd like to trim back those long leafless vines but they won't root, right? They are old growth,had and dropped leaves at some point. ( it has no new growth.) She is in my hallway and I thought I could smell her in the lounge room but it turned out it was my Obi One, her first flowers of the season opened :D

Well, g'day to you, triffidmoss! How pretty and lucky you are to recieve such a beautiful plant! I need an obovata in my life. I've heard the scent described from Froot Loops cereal to roses (an interesting range of frangrances lol, but all are pleasant). I'd definitely would be rooting cuttings to give away as gifts (and a backup starter plant-never hurts to have one of those).

What an awesome plant! I see nubby’s on the vine so why not try root it, it is spring for you right!

A backup starter plant.. lol. I already have several obovatas, normal, splash and variegated :D It's probably my favourite hoya? Or close to. Everyone should have one!

I think we all feel that way about our favorite Hoya. I think everyone should have a pubicalyx "Red Buttons". I would say ilagiorium, but it hasn't grown much for me (the mother plant and the cutting I took from it-much less bloomed). Nikki (my carnosa) developed peduncles this year, and I keep her misted this time of year, because they seem to enjoy it (and the vines dry up without the added humidity-it's too dry in here with the central air forced heat). I am fond of the pubicalyxes and lacunosas, myself. I don't have any lacunosas at the moment, but there's always spring to look forward to! ;)
