The seating is not too far apart. Add a large table for snacks and drinks in the middle.

A couple had this amazing house and they wanted me to help them “spruce” it up for resale. They had attempted to do some remodeling, but when the builder went for a permit, he was denied. The conversation pit was not “code” (railings).

I don’t know if your builder has permission to go ahead, just make sure, should you want to sell the house in the future.

Other wise, recover the cushions, change the rug, and add a good sized ottoman/coffee table.

Thank you JudyG and leelee. I appreciate your comments. Unfortunately, even with a large table, you still can't reach from the seats. We have a yogibo in the middle right now for seating while having a fire going. The kids love the area for playing games and sitting by the fire. Will keep working on it.

Groovy!! How deep are the seats? I'd make them daybed deep,cushions and pillows at back for support, and then decide on a low table or ottoman.

I would be considering making that whole area the same height as the rest of the flooring and forgret the whole converstaion pit which was an awful idea to begin with

How far is it from the front edge of the seat to the other seat edge?

What is the curious contraption to the right of the fireplace?
