When you run curtains across the wall behind the bed. It will help bring the room together. The window will no longer stand out.

It will bring some elegance to the room.

Can we see more pictures? Is it possible for the bed to fit on the wall where the crab is?

Yes, the bed will fit on the wall where the crab is (but not enough room for 2 side tables).

I think your layout is good. You need just decor. I would go with curtains and mirror or wall art above the dressers.

Is it possible to remove one of the dressers? Preferably the larger one and put the white one there. Between the two doors put a small narrow bencher or nothing. The bed is not centered on the wall now so I would see how it looked centered without the dresser between the door. I would then either do what others are suggesting about the curtains or I would figure out how to balance the window with art work.

I would eliminate grandma's valances.

I would paint dressers in the same color.

And get a rug.

I'd go for larger art on the big wall with the crab, and something with more color drama to help balance the dark furniture. I like celerygirl's notion of picking a color for rug, art, etc. (I don't mind your lamp, but you might revisit that after the other decor is picked.

I got inspired by everyone's advice and made some major changes, but I still have a ways to go! Added wallpaper, removed and added some furniture and rearranged. What is needed next? I think a rug, chandelier fan, large gold mirror over the dresser and something (maybe sconces) over the bed and possibly remove those nightstands in exchange for some very simple, smaller ones with a circular top and "x" for legs. Also a rug (I am thinking soft tan/cream colored cheetah/leopard and not sure if I need window treatments. It is a small room. I don't want it to look even smaller with more stuff unless it makes the room look fabulous! I haven't had a rug or window treatments in this room for years because of my severe allergies, but I am realizing the rug will really tie the room together, right?

BTW I am grateful for this forum. I have done nothing in my house for years and finally have gotten some motivation from everyone!
