Help with Bedroom Window Design

Our new master bedroom is 2 walls of windows with a not so lovely view and easy visibility in by our neighbors. We're planning on putting the bed (likely a king) on the right wall in front of the windows. There's a third window on that wall which you don't see in the photo. I can't decide if I should go with curtains/sheers or curtains/shades or blinds. I'm also wondering if curtains/sheers hung at ceiling height might be too much drapery for the room since it would completely cover both walls. It's not a large room.

My husband would like the room to be pitch black, unlike myself, but I already know neither one of us is going to want to mess with raising blinds or moving curtains each day just to let light in, especially behind the bed where it would be harder to reach. I am trying to keep cost minimal, so what would you suggest?

Get white wooden shutters. You can tilt the slats if you want more or less light. They are very good at blocking out light at night when you want a dark room for sleeping.

I love mine in the bedroom.

The house we just moved out of had them on EVERY window, so I was trying to avoid them, but agree it's a good idea.

Minimal cost would be blackout roller shades. They are simple and unobtrusive when open, but you may have to reach over a bed to open them. My preference would be blackout curtains hung on a traverse rod (easy to open and close), but that’s probably more money than you want to spend. I also like my bedroom dark and appreciate nice textiles.

I've seen some good sales on blackout curtains. Would you put 4 panels on each set of 3 windows? The thought of opening and closing curtains vs blinds seems easier to me. I don't know why. :)

I've hardly ever seen a room better suited to 3" white wood shutters.

I would do a treatment on the bottom half of the front windows, something that remains closed all the time (shutters, bottom up shades, window film) then, perhaps draperies behind the bed, which remain closed and matching draperies on the front windows that you can pull shut at night and open in the morning.

Having the bottom of the windows covered will give you privacy, yet you'll have a view out over the top and some daylight when you want it.
