What style of window (dbl hung, casement, etc)? If a developer or tract home you may not have much choice without paying exhorbant upcharges. But builders as a rule you about the least expensive window they can and nothing about the window oin their site blows me away in a positive way.

At this point we are interested in this house mainly because of its location and the fact that it’s a new build. I’m wanting to check on the quality of the materials used (brand of windows, stove, wood floors, gas fireplace, etc and the appliances that are installed) to ensure that we are moving into a quality home should we decide to buy it.

That alone means nothing unfortuately. The worst windows made today would have absolutely the exact same make up. Are these double hung windows? Have you looked at the performance values on the weir website?

I had those same thoughts while reading Mike G's reply. I have gone on the website and cannot find and literature or data on the quality or the testings of the products. I have tried to call and cannot get an answer. I finally have emailed them in hopes to receive an answer. I have also requested the model number of the windows that were installed from the realtor. I'm just waiting for the requested information to dive further into the research.

Comfort View makes several different models of PVC windows so its impossible to say much without knowing which one is in the house. I hope it will the highest model but even that might have an upper glass pane narrower than the lower glass pane and for sure there will be no applied mullions and the upper glass will be flush with the exterior siding (window not set back like traditional windows). That's not something I would specify but if the appliance doesn't offend you, just assume you will need to replace them within 10 years and then you'll be happy if they last longer.

Get a quote on Integrity fiberglass windows to know your replacement cost.

The Marvin Wood-Ultrex (fiberglass) is an excellent choice but if you are interested in all-Ultrex, check the all-Ultrex Infinity replacement windows which are sold by installers rather than by Marvin.

Again Mike G, tilt in function means nothing about the windows quality, and screens come standard is in no way shape or form a benefit, you still pay for them.

This is what the builder sent me.

The 900 model is the lowest grade the company makes. "Single hung" means the top sash doesn't slide or tilt for cleaning. I would be more concerned about what other ways the contractor tried to save money. Get a good home inspector.

tell comfort view they need to get that Ufactor down to a .28 at least. they currently have a .31 which is unacceptable.

Kristen, the limited info your builder gave you only confisms two things in my opinion. That he has no idea ablut windows other than he gets them cheap and this is truly a builder basic budget price point window, nothing better.

Mike g I think that your comments to Ron may actually be more disturbing than your very strange characterization of features common to literally every new window as being special to the one in question. It’s like a car maker advertising power windows and an am/fm radio. Or tires. Yes, it comes with tires. Wow.

Mike I hope this is all satire like tht video. What are experienced window welders anyway? windows are welded by machines, not guys in a factory hand welding them. Did you find this on their website and you are goofing on it or something?
