Triple layer would be a thicker, heavier shingle and carry a higher cost as well as typically a longer warranty. At the end of the day all the major players quality wise are the same. Different roofers prefer one brand over another for their own reasons, maybe they like working with one shingle over another for perceived benefits, maybe they like a supplier better or they buy at a better price point. Both Certainteed and GAF are definitely considered major players and I would not be afraid to use either one.

When I was a builder, years ago, the CertainTeed by far was a higher quality than the GAF. Things may have changed since then. I'd also agree; look at the warranties.

I know you didn't ask this, but I was just comparing CT "Landmark" vs "Landmark Pro". My custom home builder said 90% of their clients go with the standard (and cheaper) "Landmark" shingle because the warranty is the same. In my own investigation, most of the colors look identical between the two, but some of the brighter colors looked visibly better/beefier in the Pro series. I never compared GAF though. I personally put CT "Landmark" on my roof

Hi Tony,

Yes, we have fully stocked roofers here - if you're referring to materials for the asphalt shingles, and of course for all other types of roofing materials. We even have roofers here who have been officially trained by Certainteed in asphalt shingle installation. I know we're far away from many other countries, but we're not living in straw huts! :)

Best wishes,

Marlena.
