Depends on the catt's parentage to some extent. I stick to mini catts and compact catts as I don't have room for the big 'uns. Most are not terribly slow-- generally giving me two or more growths per year. (Have had a couple slow pokes over the years.) I have known folks who've said that some of the full sized catts can be slow. Generally, slow growth is more a matter of something off in your culture. While there a few catts which desire cool temps, the vast majority want it very sunny and warm to hot when in active growth.

Well they aren't really in active growth now anyway, winter here of course. But they get plenty warm on sunny days, and never too chilly at night, even now. Usually will be in the mid 50's at night and 65-72 by day.

Bill, The cats are out of their elements. They live closer to the equator than where they are now. In Florida they slow down too. Not as slow as z6b. But the days have just started getting longer and soon they will respond. Sooner for me in z10b. Adding artificial light may help but I know nothing about that.

65-72F isn't warm by typical Catt standards. Those temps in conjunction with the short days is not conducive for active growth for most catts. Temps in the upper 70s-80s with long bright days are usually the ticket. You may have to wait til spring before they get going.

Patience I suppose. Well, after 12/21 the days are getting longer..........

Bill, see what the locals do in terms of lights.

Harvey, I wouldn't add any lighting because that room has sun all day, and I have many other plants which need the shorter day length to bloom. If ti were only those orchid types, I could add artificial light. But I'm patient so I'll see what happens come spring. I think I'll summer them outdoors, too.
