Another, I need help with backsplash!

Moved into new home a few weeks ago. I purposely did not choose a backsplash at the design center because I wanted to see how the lighting (indoor/outdoor) would affect the kitchen. My granite is "salinas", cabinets painted arctic white and flooring is dark brown. I do not have under cabinet lighting (that's another story). I've attached pictures so hopefully you experts can advise as to what backsplash might work. I have been toying with using Hampton Polished Amalfi (will try to post a pic of it), but am afraid it might be too much against the granite. Was trying to avoid the reg 3/6 subways as I wanted something a bit different. Can't use greys as I don't want a dungeon look since the lighting is not that great during the day. Any suggestions?

It's hard to tell, but are the cabinets the same color as the wainscoting in the dining area? What about a chevron tile? https://www.houzz.com/products/interlocking-honed-tile-arabescato-carrara-chevron-30-sq-ft-12x12-prvw-vr~48646487

I do t think a light grey would look like "dungeon" at all! I also like the Chevron idea

An electrician could easily install under-counter lighting for you I would think. Electricity wiring is already there. It would make all the difference in the world in your kitchen,

Thanks for responding. At least I know I am on the right track. The cabinets are the same white as the wainscoting and I will be looking into the Chevron pattern. I do have a sample of something very similar altho in a different pattern (2x4). I was actually leaning towards this tile but was afraid that it would fight with the granite. Kenna, I also have a sample of the tile you posted in a crackle with edges that appear lighter...very pretty and is a contender. As far as undercounter lighting goes, I certainly agree with you. Hubby could not justify what they were charging for such a small area! I pick and choose my battles....lol Thanks everyone!
