Ruby Red Grapefruit set fruit 3 months apart

We purchased a small grapefruit tree last spring, and it had 3 grapefruit on it. About 3 months later it bloomed again, and set 10 more in the summer. So now, the first three are ripe, but the other 10 are months behind. With spring coming, would like to fertilize. Should I just leave the 10 alone and fertilize normally?

Yep for sure if the tree is in a pot. Fertilize as the production of fruit takes a lot of energy from the tree. For inground trees, I don't know.

Feed either way I feed my in ground citrus 28-0-4. My soil has plenty of the P and enough K

As a side note to Denise's post. If you leave all 10 of the grapefruit on the small tree, and if all are retained by the tree, you will end up with 10 rather small sized fruit, plus not much tree growth. if you remove some of the fruit and keep perhaps 2 fruit, depending on the size of the tree, the fruit will be larger in size and the tree should put on additional growth.
