A nice buffet or bar area - something where you could set up drinks for parties and/or display some photos and a nice potted plant. A piano. A nice desk.

That's the sort of place I always end up putting a bookcase in, with art above. That way, it doesn't intrude into the circulation space as much as a credenza while filling a need (book storage is at a premium in my house!). And art goes on every available wall too.

Beautiful home!....ok this is my take...

move sectional to the right until left arm of sectional is where fireplace begins.....buy a beautiful large console for wall on the right and place TV on it with a swivel or hang on wall with movable arm...now because you have created a nice space behind the sectional on the left in front of window ....add a sofa table and now you can add much needed lamps.

This is another console that would look pretty in your space..and black metal lamps for sofa table behind sectional.

Julie nailed it. was going to say the same thing.

Your little tv off to the left looks out of place. Move it and the torchere, and replace w/a tall plant

All the little knick-knacks on the right look cluttered. Ditto for mantel. remove half of what's there.

remove the ladders and try this (if you don't move the TV)

Much better:

Hi, do you know what is the name of your flooring? I love it!

Julie and Beth have it spot on. I remember when you posted this room as you were building.

Lose all the small clutter and doo dads on the mantel. .

good point ^

look at the rods and how they look hung about 8-10" above the top of the door

you have tall ceilings so raise up those rods!)

Another suggestion - I would swap out the white outlet on your kitchen cabinets with a black one.

We agree, we were going to say the same as Julie and Beth. That dead space is a wonderful place for the TV/console.
