Care question for quartz

I have an LG Viatera countertop. I must say it's off white and resists stains beautifully. Haven't had any trouble at all. The LG Viatera website recommends the following cleaners:

Simple Green® lime-scale remover
- Vinegar cleaner (diluted)
- Formula 409® Glass and Surface Cleaner
- Lysol®
- Greased Lightning®

I don't like using cleaners with a strong chemical smell or vinegar in my kitchen, especially on my counters where I work with food. Is it okay to use Meyer's Clean Day on quartz?

    Hi,

Obviously I’m no expert but proceed with caution! There is a lot of contradictory info out there about cleaning quartz countertops. I have gorgeous 2 month old Cambria tops—cleaned them with Windex at the beginning and there are scuffs and streaks where I wiped where the the finish is dull and unfixable. Luckily I got the idea quickly and haven’t done it again. I first read windex was ok, and too late saw other info that said it’s not. I know this doesn’t answer your q but be careful!

jp - Yes windex has ammonia in it which they say isn't good. Sorry to hear you had that issue, thankfully you realized it sooner rather than later. Thanks for the warning though!

I have LG Viatera (Nimbus), and wipe it with a damp dish cloth - sometimes also spritzing with Meyers multi purpose spray. No problems here. I need to use vinegar around the sink though, as our hard water is leaving a scaly coating.

Castillo soap mixed with water or just Dawn mixed with water.

Castillo is good but I also use Meyer’s day spray as well, not every day though. It seems to be fine after months of doing this. Definitely not winded with ammonia.

I make my own (cheap) with three drops of Basic H and three drops of lemongrass essential oil in a spray bottle of water. I get it all at Amazon. My Cambria is 6 years old and looks like new.

If you're concerned about chemicals around food, vinegar is your BEST option. Mrs. Meyers Clean Day is loaded with fragrance.

Soap and water and dry with a soft cloth.

I've had my Viatera countertop for 2.5 years. I have never needed more than soapy water and if I am concerned about disinfecting, I keep a small spray bottle of rubbing alcohol around. That has worked for the occasional sticky label that might leave a residue behind.

The best thing to do is check with LG... everyone can say what they are doing, but different manufacturers have different recommendations.

    Play it safe.

Follow what the manufacturer recommends, using the one with the least amount of chemical. Mine recommends Windex, I use the one without ammonia or vinegar.

I have Hanstone and the website recommends either dishsoap like Dawn and water or a diluted mixture of alcohol and water. I use both but for a quick clean I have a spray bottle of the alcohol and water mixture.
