Most Australians have epicormic buds so my guess is yes...but these plants are pretty short-lived. It might be easier just to get another one. Drainage is paramount with Grevillea; they like very well-draining poor soil (no phosophorus, little nitrogen. Never fertilize them. I would likely just replace it but you can certainly experiment and see what happens when you cut it back. I've had several dozen of these over the years and have gradually just replaced them with a longer-lived plant as they have gotten leggy or died.

This one looked good for about three years, and then started getting sparse; it's now maybe seven years old and looks terrible. Is that about what I can expect with Grevillea lanigera? I didn't realize it has a short life; many people around here have different upright shrubby Grevillea that look great after ten or more years, so I just assumed that the low-growing ones would be the same. Anyways, I'll clip part of it back to see what happens! Thanks for the tips.

I've grown perhaps 6-8 different Grevillea and at least for me, the lanigera (Coastal Gem or Low Form) are the most annoying. I have a couple of other ground cover Grevillea (Medusa and Royal Mantle) that seem to be much more reliable. They are not lanigera. Could just be my own experience. If I were pushed for explanations, I think it has come down to drainage more than anything else.
