Nobody?

Why not build in a shelf at whatever height and size you'd like and put a countertop microwave in it?

AFAIK, the mechanical and electrical mechanisms for all the current drawer microwaves are made by Sharp (in two different sizes, 24" and 30", but the same 1.2 cu ft capacity); however, each manufacturer has different trim. You will pay more for the high end brand (e.g., Jenn Air), and it might coordinate a little better with your other appliances, but it will be functionally the same.

We have used under the counter microwaves in our last two kitchens, and they are really convenient. However, I'm only about 5'8" tall, so under the counter is about the right height.

You could use a built in cabinet to put an under-the-counter microwave at any height you want. I'd probably want it low enough so that its easy to see over the top and lower in a dish. The standard Sharp control panel is very flat (not angled upward), so it would be more convenient to have it closer to eye level. The higher end models have the same controls, but the panel pops/hinges out to a better angle.

You don't have to spend a lot for a built-in microwave. You can get trim kits (for a built-in appearance) for both the Panasonic NN-SE985S and NN-SE785S countertop microwaves, both well-rated by Consumer Reports.
