It might. If it's a freestanding island cooktop with a hood overhead, then it might look OK, but if it's nestled between cabinetry, like I did in the kitchen above, it really should match the cooktop size. I like the brand "Best" hoods. There are specifications about how close the hood can be mounted above the cooktop for stronger ventilation, and if you're able get an external duct to the outside (as opposed to recirculating), you'll get better ventilation overall.
