Wow there are some beautiful flowers in those pictures. i think I will do better this year. I don’t think I added enough seeds to my gallons last year either so that is two things for me to do differently this year. I need more media in the gallons and seed freely. I think I was trying to think more like I would be able to divide them easily if there weren’t as many flowers in the containers. I will order a few perennials and use the annual seeds left over from last year. I ordered way too many. It is very easy to do. Thanks for the tips.

Momdino - As for cameras, I started out with a little Sony DSC-N2, graduated to a Nikon Coolpix 5700 (which my cat knocked off the table and ruined!), and now I take pics with my phone camera.

Full disclosure: my garden suffered terribly in the last several years due to my poor health. All I have out there now are Laura Bush petunias, which have been self-seeding for 10 years, and the tiger lilies which I grew from bulbils. Maybe this year, I'll grow some more stuff. I really miss my tomatoes!

I've wintersowed every way wrong you can. Too dry. Too wet. Not enough soil. I'm in zone 5, too. I loved doing it, but was always disappointed I didn't get more germination. New house this year and I decided not to wintersow. Don't give up, though! Part of the fun is in the adventure. If it was easy everyone would do it! LOL Heidi (Yes, your pictures are gorgeous.)
