$600! Wow, I don't feel so bad anymore.

Every thing I bought was from Marlow, Andy's, and J&L.

I use rain water on my plants. A lot of my plants in clay pots with a single drain hole, I put my finger over the hole, fill the pot, then wait a few seconds and dump the water.

With the others I turn the pots while watering so the water flows trough at different angles. I used to just water straight though, but one time i dropped a pot after watering and I found most of the bark was still dry. After that I try to make sure the media gets soaked.

I'm working on a vivarium so a few of the plants I bought are going in there. The floribunda I picked because flowers often and can handle warmer temps. I was also looking fro compact growth, color, and leaf shape. Andy was a big help with the selections.

Wonderful haul, James. I was planning to do the North Jersey show this past weekend, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Kinda disappointed but holding out hope for going to Redlands this spring. Congrats on your new plants!! You did very well indeed.

James, don't they have the nicest plants? ! I usually get there when they open and scoop up the most fragrant ones then a few little ones. The only problem with the little ones is that I can't stop them from drying out too fast without dying. Ugh.

I love the ones you got. That show will be here in February and I already a talked to Andy, great guy and other bringing a few for me. When will it end? lol

John, the Deepcut show in Homdel is Feb 7-10. another good show with a lot of the same vendors.

Since you mentioned the paneling, I enjoy doing carpentry almost as much as growing plants. I did the walls and floor inlay. Plus a secret door that hold our phones, chargers and take out menus

Mike, Andy is the best, a few years ago I had my young daughter with me. He gave her a cute little Schoenorchis and a bag of chips for waiting patiently for me to shop.

James, funny you should mention that. He has even sent me a gift plant for being patient. I really like that guy. He was so friendly knowledgable and kind when I met him. I even git to know him at a private house warming a couple of years ago. Sad to say, he won't be here at this years Orchid show in New Hampshire in which he just told me but happily I think he will be there since both orchid shows fall on the same days(

You do carpentry? Gee, I could use your expertise. How about a free stay, free plants at my orchid show to fix my porch door? ha

Man, do I wish I was handy like that.

So where will your new plants reside? What room? Under lights or in a window? How do you keep the very small potted ones from drying out so often or so fast? I already lost wo japonica bacause of this. I am so bummed out.

I'm going watch them and adjust depending on how they react. I will have my vivarium up and running soon and will put some in there with a few ferns and broms I have been collecting.

Woodwork is my speciality! Nice work James! This project I made using quarter sawn whit oak and all the panels are book matched curly quartered sawn white oak.

My wife has been after me to make something like that for the living room.

I just had a large oak tree taken down. I saved a 10' long X 3' diameter log to cut into planks.... one of these days.

It takes big logs to quarter it. 3' is plenty big. Then either wait several years to air dry. Or after it is sawn and dried for a month, send it to the kiln...

Awesome, James. I envy people who can do such beautiful stuff with their hands. Thanks for the Deepcut reminder. I've heard of it but never been.
