Mexican lime taste test!

Laura, taste test report inspired by you, but I forgot to take pictures after cutting the fruit!

I saw that the some of the fruit on the Mexican lime tree were getting so heavy they were dragging the branches down, so I picked 3 and juiced them. They were juicy, 3 of them gave me over a cup of juice. It was too tart to drink straight, (but not tart enough to be considered a souring agent for cooking) so I added a cup of water and a teaspoon of sugar, and it was like a really good lemonade, tart and sweet!

However, the taste and aroma were completely different from anything I've had before. It is intensely floral, and very pear-like, if I hadn't made it myself, I would have been wondering what fruit had been added to the lemonade, an

d guessed it was something like mangosteen or another floral smelling fruit!

I had planted the tree by mistake, thinking it was a sweet lime, citrus limetta that we called mosambi in India, and was disappointed when people told me that the Mexican sweet lime had a flat, watery taste. Well, they were wrong. This tastes nothing like a mosambi, but is a very refreshing, delicious juice, and I am so glad I kept it!
