Always a pleasure to see a fruit tree going through its circle

That's awesome, Joe. I'm very happy for you. I know how much you love your little plantation, and how happy it makes you.

I am happy for you Joe, there is so much happiness for me to see the favorite fruit trees producing. And I am sure glad that all the fruit come at different times of the year.

While walking in the garden, I noticed my Rosigold mango thinking of fruiting this year, that one is the youngest of my mango trees.

In the meantime, I am busy making banana bread from the first ripe bunch. Still have 2 more bunches to ripen...it is a nice problem to have!

My youngest tree, the Kent, only in the ground 20 months, was the first with panicles this year !

Ah yes, lookin' forward to some Kents in July,..my favorite tasting mango !

It's now officially the start of the 2019 Florida mango season !

It's surprising how this time of year gets me so enthused ! There are only a few places in the US where mangos will grow, I feel fortunate to live in one of them !

The panicles I have been photographing will start to set fruit soon and now begins the much slower and selective phase of this cycle. I have already given my pals, the flies, wasps and bees permission to begin the pollinating process. Then, the tiny yellow flowers and soon after the baby fruits will evolve ! A process that always psychs me out ! There may be 10 to 50 tiny fruits that set on each panicle but as time passes many, if not all, will drop ! But, as in the past, there will be so many panicles on these four robust young trees that a harvest of 200 + mangos from the big Glenn alone is a real possibility this June !

However, I am well aware that this windfall will not be a total walk in the park ! The critters will get their share. Am sure they'll start sneaking around in another 6 weeks or so. Have been there before, - last year was a first when the spiny-tailed iguanas came a-calling, along with the squirrels, wabbits, etc ! I do hope they've all learned their lesson, but if I have to go nose-to-nose with them again, so be it ! It's all worthwhile at harvest time, which here will run from early June thru late August.

Sylvia : Almost forgot, ( this gettin' old stuff ain't for sissies ), I also have a new, fat flag leaf just emerging ! First saw it three days ago, - hard to tell what type it is since I have five ( 5 ) different varieties out there. All were tagged with home-made name tags when babies, but cannot read 'em now due to weather deterioration, - way to go Einstein !

However, we feel 90% sure it's an Apple banana. It is one of the most robust flag leafs we've seen here in years,..lookin' forward. Wifey was encouraged by your comments about making banana bread, so some will go in the freezer come harvest time. We have one more stalk about 10 days old,..still expanding,...lookin' good for more bread in the future. We expected a couple of more banana stalks around this time but I am fearful my new pal is turning into a glutton !

MMMM, those banana chocolate cookies look scrumptious ! Trying to lose a few lbs, but would still love to gorge on those guys during the Super Bowl. Got a recipe ?

I did not add the sugar topping and I use more bananas than the recipe called for, I got the notes in my copy of the book for next time, also the translation to our system.

Jofus it's so great about your mango trees. I wish I lived closer to you so I could help you eat your mangos! I just love them. They are one of my favorite fruits!

Hi Tony, we love radishes! and yes I grew Green Luobo before but the one you bought seems like a winner to me and I am just in perfect time to get them. I am enjoying a good crop of French radishes and watermelon radishes are growing...
