Bathroom help! to tile wall or not

Hello!

We are currently doing our master bath. We chose milano carrara marble - used 12x24 for shower (came out a little darker than expected but thats what u get with marble). The floor we used a 6x18 in a herringbone design. Dilemma is what to do on walls if anything. Originally we were going to do the 12x24 but because of the intense variation i dont want them on the walls. Options are doing a brick pattern with the 6x18 or 6x12 or do nothing. Thoughts?

Not in this bathroom, the design doesn’t call for it.

My next question would be, should i tile the wall behind my vanity where my mirrors will hang on? I was originally thinking of using a mosaic tile back there in a smaller herringbone design , similar to this. Question is, should it match the floor as perfect as possible or be a little different? Vanity cabinets will be white. Any other recommendations as for what to do with that back wall? Ill get that photo as soon as possible, was there today trying to take pics around workers and was in the way lol!

For the sink backsplash I'd just use a 4 inch piece of whatever you countertop material is. It will look more seamless and not compete with the flooring pattern.

For the whole wall? Can this be done? Or are you referring to the little ledge that goes right behind the sink?

I think the tile would be much too busy. I agree, just a small splash with the counters.

Thanks. Do you think the bathroom will be too simple without any tiling on the wall of any sort. This is my husbands concern? I think the bathroom is busy enough because of the marble we chose.

I think the bathroom will be stunning without the wall tile. Worst case, if you feel it looks too boring you can always add the wall tile later

Leana,,I did a very similar floor on my bathroom. If you click on my name and hit 'master bath redo', you can see it. I left my walls alone. behind the vanity I carried up my countertop.

nice. I was looking for the plumbing stub but couldn't find anything.

Hubby says the rough plumbing is positioned right below (in basement) . Waiting to get tub in position before bringing the plumbing through! Any suggestions on what kind of tub to get for that space?

Okay different question! Thinking of paint colors for the bathroom. Deff in the greys with this bathroom? How can we make this room pop?! Maybe use 2 different colors?

Based on the color of the shadow the glass creates, I would paint some cardboard or long sheets of paper and hang them there to see how the color changes throughout the day. I think a wallpaper could look amazing there! And then pull a color from that for other walls of the room. Or you could do wainscot panels below and paint above, or just do a simple paint and beautiful drapes...

Admittedly, I'm not a big marble fan, but I say NO to tiling the wall. You already have so much marble on the floor ... and you have those great windows. Tile on this wall would be too much. You need a simple color on the walls as a "rest" for the eyes.

I also say NO to tiling behind the vanity ... and for the same reason. You already have enough going on.

My MBR is tiled with a porcelain carerra-look tile. It's on the floor, in the shower (including the ceiling), and all around the tub up to a slanted ceiling. That left one full wall, and all the walls around the toilet area and around the sink area as well as other small random areas.

    I did NOT want gray as it would not have worked with my BR at all. After trying more wallpaper samples than I can count, I ended up with Farrow & Ball's Drag 1261 in Green Blue #84. <http://us.farrow-ball.com/drag-dr-1261/wallpaper%20colours/farrow-ball/fcp-product/201261>;

It's stunning and so calming. When I lie in the tub, I feel as if I'm under water. In order to be sure I had no water problems, I had my paper drop-shipped to ResistFlame in Cincinnati to be vinyl coated. I have them do a single coat in their matte finish. You will NEVER know your paper has been vinyl coated - have done this with multiple Farrow-Ball and other papers over the past 34 years.

Thanks for the ideas! I love the idea of wallpaper in that area, going to look into that.
