When you have a great big mixed up mess of a collection " bloom Booster" is a pain.

Here in the sub-tropics if you grow a wide variety of orchids some will be in bud or bloom at any time of year.

Not going into doing special things for the different genera in my collection. KISS.

More fertiliser with a higher Nitrogen number in the warmer months.

Well, I agree. The less I have to do the better. I do keep a log on watering and feeding frequency but that's sort've part of the fun, and in its way makes my job easier over time. The only change I'd make in the nitrogen level would be in response to a clear yellowing leaves but it might be easier to just decrease light or maybe a little of both. I like the seaweed idea. What does it do? I also just read that seashells are good sources for calcium. I can go shelling with renewed vigor this summer. Or surely these can be bought by the bag on some orchid-unrelated site. I'm not puttn' them in my blender though.

I have the maxi-crop on hand and have never thought of using it. Now I will start for sure. Thank you!!

I suppose that orchids need every nutrient to thrive including potassium, calcium and magnesium which many fertilizers lack. What a pain. Now I use Pete's Cal-Mag and I love it as a stright fertilizer. I hope it does the job. Time will tell)

Mike, Also add a tablespoon to the gallon of unsulphured molasses. First add correct amount to a cup of hot water to melt it. Then add to spray bottle with fertilizer and maxi crop. Molasses is loaded with minerals. All plants like it.

Which is why so many folks have gone to using the MSU fertilzer, Mike .... It is formulated with not only the major nutrients orchids need, but also the micro-nutrients standard ferts lack.
