Remove baseboard??

Im soon installing bamboo flooring in my now carpeted living room. The picture shows the current baseboard & quarter round (??)-the pic is from a different roo- that I have. Do I really need to remove this to install flooring or can I leave it as is? Its in really good condition & Id hate to ruin it.

Yes. They have to leave an expansion joint around the perimeter and if you don’t remove the trim there will be a gap there. Plus, the carpet height will likely be different from the new floor height.

What Bri said...if you don't remove it there will be all kinds of problems and the result will look terrible.

You should be able to install by removing only the quarter round, not the baseboard itself. The point of the quarter round is to cover the expansion gap as well as unevenness in the floor vs baseboard. The quarter round would typically be attached to the floor rather than the baseboard to allow for movement.
