My contractor told me to use denatured alcohol to clean marker off of a little place on my marble. It did work for me. But, if your house is a new build, call the builder. It is their resposibility to replace that sidesplash piece. If it is a pre-owned home and you can't get the marker out, you could have a local stone shop get you a small remnant and fabricate a piece to replace it. It shouldn't cost much. If they do find a remnant, bring it home before they fabricate so you can check to see if the color matches.

Thank you! It’s not a new build, it’s a 1950s home. I will look into a local stone shop. Could Home Depot help? I am new to the area so am a little lost at the moment on good local people, unfortunately.

annied75, I couldn't agree with you more, most HD employees are never hired for there knowledge about anything, and will only give you wrong advice, I found that out the hard way when I was given the wrong advice about a plant I bought, and they didn't guarantee it. I now use Home Depot and I've never had any problems with there advice..

You could try Turtle Wax Label and Sticker Remover, it is a spray that I use to remove glue and sharpie ink...

This will drive you nuts forever...I would pull it off and do a tiled backsplash..

Remove it and have it turned over. That side is rough and probably not sealed. It will be never ending issues...you should be able to get a handyman to do it!

I would not bash HD, even though I consider myself a 'know it all', I've received excellent building and other tips from Pros in HD; the knack is in identifying a Pro. I don't work for HD, been their customer for over twenty years.

Thanks everyone! We decided to pay some local stone people to come out and fix it professionally. We wanted to make sure it was properly sealed and looked right. They did a great job! I appreciate all of these tips and the responsiveness.
