i paint a lot of furniture.

try a simple chalk paint (no distressing. fine sand on the second coat and apply a clear wax. buff to a satin finish)

or, try General Finishes Milk paint in Linen or an Antique white.

I'd prob do the top to match the chairs and paint the legs in black. If you paint the top, you will have to do a protective clear coat.

Although, it may be easier to do the chairs.

you can spray those w/a satin spray paint. Do the chairs in black or a different color.

Lottsa work. Buy a cute table cloth, and coordinate a pretty rug with the neutral tones in it and some of your favorite hue, and it will be very pretty. Unless you have alot of spare time to paint and sand, and paint.. Cute set!
