You can also put a tread looking for this vine in the native plants exchange forum. From looking at I naturalist. org. it looks like the highest concentration of these vines is in central, north central Texas. There might be small native nurseries in that area that carry the plant.

There are a couple native plant nurseries in Austin and one in Bullverde. The Lady Bird Wildflower Center and the Native Plant Society of Texas both have spring plant sales. You might be able to find Matelea reticulata at one of those sales. We have a Matelea species in Illinois that's endangered. Matelea decipiens.

Illinois has about 20 species of native milkweeds. I found seeds for all of them except 4 species. A. meadii, A. lanuginosa, A. amplexicaulis, and A. quadrifolia. The A. meadii and A. lanuginosa are both endangered and rare in the state and so impossible to find seeds or plants for. The other 2 species, A. amplexicaulis and A. quadrifolia are also very rare but some nurseries should have these 2 species in the spring. I'm growing 2 milkweed vines this year. Cynanchum laeve and Dregea sinensis. I might try growing the Matelea decipiens next year. I would grow the reticulata if it was native to my area.

Vicleeshouse, I was looking around and found a couple more green flowered milkweed vines. One is a native from Alabama and the other is a Dregea. The only bad news is that both of these species are as impossible to find as the Matelea reticulata lol.

Jay, have you tried checking on Grow Milkweed Plants on Facebook? Brad Grimm sells a lot of different milkweeds. He has his own website. I've ordered from him before. Really good guy.

Well, I went back on facebook and found the grow milkweeds group. I had to answer the question why do I grow milkweeds? I'm waiting for a reply. They had seeds and plant lists. I couldn't view them. I do have one milkweed that nobody else has. Gomphocarpus cancellatus. It was only on ebay once for about 5 minutes. I don't think I even knew it existed until then lol. It's rare, and it's from Africa so I had to have it. They sell seeds for the other 2 species of Gomphocarpus everywhere, physocarpus and fruticosa, but the cancellatus is very rare.

It's a great group! Members will even send free seeds to each other if they have the variety that someone is looking for. Last year a woman in Canada sent me some Blue Tweedia caerulea milkweed seeds when I was asking about where to find them. I always offer to send postage when they do that, but a lot of times they don't want any. So I play it forward when I send someone seeds..no postage. Right now my Blue Tweedia caerulea is overwintering in her pot in our cellar. You can also go to Brad's website...www.growmilkweedplants.com. These pics are ones I took last June.

I love that pearl one, but it's out of my range. These are native to my area.

My pink Tweedia, or more correctly Oxypetalum solanoides. Its leaves feel like the softest velvet, and unlike the blue species, Monarch caterpillars will feed on this one.

Texas has 12 species of Matelea that don't grow anywhere else only Texas.:(
