I am a fan of white. I think you can go with full length if you figure out how to tame the cords. And it would look better. You can get command adhesive clips that stick to the wall and keep the cords right up against the wall, so they don’t interfere with the curtains.

Have you tried full length panels? Command has clear large cord clips that should help the cords lay flatter against the wall.

Also make sure you have enough panels. You may need two panels on each side for that wide window. Rule of thumb is length of window x 2.5. 2 x width is the absolute minimum in my book. For good blackout, take the rod out a little further, so light doesn’t peek through on the sides.

I was concerned about the electrical outlet so I will check out this Command clips for the ccords :)

The a/c and heater vent is right below the window so the long curtain might interfere with heating and cooling.

I see you have a roller shade, but what about using a Roman shade instead of curtains.

That is a great idea! I am curious if Roman shades would work on this window from 1950.

We replaced the dingy roller shades when we moved in for a quick fix. It would be a little extra work repairing the holes in the wall from the (new) rod.

There are so many more curtain options in 84 inches!

We would have to redo the trim and paint so the vent is staying.

No one suggested you remove the vent.

Roman shades would work, but if you want true blackout, do an outside mount. Even inside, reverse mount will have light at the edges. Repairing the wall is not a big deal. Get some spackle and some tough up paint. What kind of hvac vent do you have? Is it baseboard or a forced air vent on the floor? If forced air you can get a deflector as shown.

It is forced air. My fiance said that vent is hard to change. It is like stuck in the wall and new flooring lol. Trying to attach a pic.

Here are several options, depending on what you have. They are just a few dollars, and you don’t need to move anything. They attach with magnets.

You’re welcome. They’re great in many situations- under a table or chair or if you have ceiling vents that blow on your face at night (in my case). Hopefully one will help you put in some beautiful curtains. There should be lots of options for you now.

I would not use grommet top curtains if you want a romantic look.

I got the Aruba Curtain Panels by Threshold from Target in sour cream. They say blackout in the description online. I need to iron and order 2 panels for the other window. They are keepers!

Have you thought about adding rings to make opening the curtains easily And adding some fullness?

Adding rings would also add that little bit of extra length you need so the curtains kiss the floor.

Here is a cool way to hide the clips and control length.

Molly and Lil S bring up good suggestions about the possibility of adding rings. Sometimes, the little clips can be removed from the rings if they get in the way. Another idea is to sew in very small plastic rings to the back of the tabs and clip the drapery rings onto the plastic ones (see photos below). Alternatively, you could just clip the rings to the top of the fabric.

You mentioned ironing in your last post (yesterday). It's been my experience that if you leave the drapery hanging for a few days (or even a few weeks), most of the wrinkles will be gone. The humidity in the home may have an affect on how long it takes for the wrinkles to ease out of the fabric.
