What a cool pad! I don't think you absolutely have to exactly match your kitchen cabinets, but since you're in the same great room / open plan space, they should address each other in some ways. For instance, though it may seem like a small detail now, it would be great to use more of the same slimline hardware as used on your kitchen cabs so they read like a connected thought. Personally, I wouldn't do a stain that dark on a media wall that also includes a fireplace, since your whole wall in powered-off mode would be two big black boxes (TV panel and fireplace opening) bordered by significant dark cabinetry, which I think would read as too dark, cold, and oppressive overall. So not your vibe.

If you're able to use the same hardware touch on your new media wall, I'd think about doing cabs that recall the style of your kitchen execution, but are painted out in your existing trim white - no need to add another white tone to your paint shelf and create a nightmare of multiple shades there to keep track of! White would compliment a natural-looking quartz in the mix, and warm up the field around the focal points to allow whatever decor touches you're adding to shelves to take center stage as they should.

Also, are you making any changes to your firebox in the project? If you've got gas in there, this would be the ideal spot to do some fun glassrock that goes with your MCM vibe and slick color story - they make it in both bold coral and teal, and either could be a great focal point.
