I don’t know where you are, logo, but I am in Sacramento, CA and we have a ton of over 100 days in the summer. Winters do get quite cold but mostly nights below 40 and not sure how many. But here is my experience growing a few varieties the past 3 years:

-plant in a sunny spot that is protected/shady in the afternoon sun. Otherwise they will fry in the summer

-water well on hot days

-don’t freak out if you plant seems to be dead the first year! I’ve had two that seemed to die right away but both came back the next year bigger and with more blooms.

All my peonies have managed to bloom yearly and get bigger and bigger. So my advice is, just try a couple and see how they fare!

logo have you looked at your native peonies? While Greece has several temperature zones I belong to a non-peony group on facebook and one of the members from Greece has shown pictures of them. Depending on the writer they are either of several different or the same specie. Some are in the area that burned last year because he mentioned that he hoped they would still be there. It is a completely closed plant group so can not give you more information than what I just did.

Edited to add that the American College of Greece has a copy or at least is supposed to have a copy.
