I agree that the look of your door and floors are spot on. Not sure why you are even considering restaining the floor. The rug is nice and gives a bit of pizazz. I'd just remove the table.

Your entry hall fits the way it is ..with the beautiful wood floor ...staircase ...etc. I don't like the "night table look " next to the door ...but other than that ..don't change it ..and NO to white . Black is my only option if pressed ...just to give you a color choice .....certainly not any of the blue shades you mentioned ...
Why are you even thinking of a strong color like orange ...? Tell more about your house and thoughts that got you to this point ....maybe you need a colorful chandelier ?

Leave it alone, or trim white, or black. Period.

If you are trying to turn your nineties/2000's colonial into a farmhouse gray everything, or mid cen modern?? Forget that too: ) No to orange or cobalt.

Remove the table and perhaps add a larger entry rug , something compatible with the rest of your decor. Restrain fine, no to painting it any of the colors you mentioned. I don’t understand why door should be “more interesting “, that can be achieved in other ways. Btw, I like your floors.

thanks re floors. We will keep them. Thanks for the advice regarding the table. It was moved there when we moved in and it never occurred to get rid of it. We are repainting the stairs because the wood color is completely wrong. I will try a larger rug.

Get a big, beautiful rug that complements other colors/patterns in your home. Move that table elsewhere. Is that a little corner? I might opt to try a tall, slim vase (check out Home Goods). Good luck!

I would never paint the interior of a door that is good stain grain wood, it will simply peel/scuff and show blemishes more with time. Go for art, vases, rugs and lights to add interest.
