Bedding choices for patterned rug

We have new hardwoods and a patterned area rug in the master. What should I choose for new bedding? I thought I could use our current bedding, but the colors are all wrong. Should I go with a color from the rug? Its main color is mostly red, which I would rather not use, also a cream, light gold, light blue, all of which I feel is too light. Color blocking? Any advice appreciated.

Post a picture of the bed in room with the rug. You'll get lots of good feedback.

if floor is wood that blends somewhat with rug's red, that sounds ok and doesn't demand alot of red around...what visual contrasts are with furniture etc.? if low visual "excitement" you can add more in bedding, etc....photos help. :)

Do you like the rug? It doesn't sound like it. Maybe sell at a consignment store and buy one your love? Rugs take up so much visual space, it's great when you love them.

My husband hates to get rid of things. The rug was in our living room and seemed to be the only one that would work with our bedding. I have an idea to put our bedding in another bedroom and getting something that would look better with the current rug. I do like the rug, just not how it looks with the current bedding.
