It's probably more growing conditions. Your soil (while hard to be sure) looks overly water retentive (peat based). And your lighting conditions are inadequate, based on how far apart your leaves are.

I agree with dbarron. My soil contains almost 50% of perlite to keep the soil fast draining and airy. They also love a good south window.

My thoughts exactly! Unless you can supply the plant in photo #1 with the same care and conditions it received to grow that full and dense and in such robust good health, it is going to look just the same as the plants in photos #2 &3.
