I would say, that the holes in the bottom are from the Narcissus Bulb Fly which lays its eggs in the bulb and the larvae nourish themselves at the expense of the interior of your bulb.

As for the neck, at this point I wouldn't cut the neck as there may be a bud or leaves half way down and you don't want to cut them.

Having had lots of personal experience with a bulb that has been partially devoured by a NBF larvae, I would replant your bulb, the roots look good and chances are that your bulb will make several more offsets before it either heals itself or dies. In any case, you should have several healthy offsets around the mother bulb whether it expires or not.

If you want to put a utensil up in those holes and move them around just in case there is still a live larvae doing its thing, you'd want to squash it.

You've cleaned up the bulb quite well, just remove any more dead tissue around the neck if there is any left and after you replant it, Mother Nature will do her thing. sometimes the rot in the center of the bulb will do right up into the neck, but what you've got left of the bulb looks healthy so you should have several healthy offsets.

This is just my opinion so listen to what others have to say too!

Oh my goodness! A while back I had written to the forum with a problem with my amaryllis. It was at that time I heard about red blotch disease. And now there is the Narcissus Bulb Fly! It certainly does look like that is what it is.

I did put a blunt object into the hole as much as I could. There didn't seem to be anything alive thank goodness!

So I will plant it up tomorrow and wait and see what happens. I will take it outside when the weather warms.
