thanks peren!..I think June looks great ANYwhere..if you want just answer "none of your business" but how many hosta are you waiting to plant?..it seems like several Lol..

nicholsworth you could ask anything and I would tell you! There should be no secrets here, that is why we share failures as well as successes.

It would be several - several dozen! In the fall I worked on a couple of areas that I was not happy with. One area was around my June(s) but that was removing seedlings that had become fairly large. It gave some clarity to the area but not really room to plant.

The other spot was a real mess. clausa var. clausa (which is fine in the other location I have it) had infiltrated other Hosta(s). I dug out one Undulata U. because I have one in another location. I had quite a few Astrantia seedlings, some that were interfering with 'Shade Fanfare'. A section of H. 'Reversed' had reverted. I severed the reverted section and will get that out in spring, since I was running out of time. I will be able to plant a few in this area.

The main area I need to prep is large but only about half is suitable for Hosta. It is a full on removing of sod and starting a new bed. I wish I had covered it in heavy plastic sheeting last year. It is my final area in the front yard that is grass because I am all about lawn gone in this area. This is where the bulk will get planted. I am rural and have a long lane way so no one sees my garden from the road.

Probably TMI but I am honest about my messes and failures to keep control of some areas.

peren..Lol!!..I love complete explanations and details!..my husband always tells me "you don't need to tell everyone all of your reasons"..I try but usually fail to be brief..isn't planting a domino effect?..you're thinking of ONE change but it turns into 20 when you get started..I saw your comments saying things like "I have one of those that I need to plant"..after several of these comments I thought "I wonder how many she has?"..so I decided to ask..then I thought maybe asking sounds judgmental as if I'm saying "why didn't you finish your planting?"..so I thought I want to know so I'll ask but I'll say it's fine if you don't want to say haha..I agree that it's better to hold off planting until you have the perfect spot..so as I suspected you have quite a few Lol..I wish tomorrow was the right time for both of us to get started on all of the garden work that we have planned..
