as to fert ... i would take a bleached out milk jug ... and add just enough common water soluble fert to change the water color a little bit.. and use it each time you water ... im thinking a 1/4 or 1/8 of a teaspoon in a gal of water .....

im thinking there are a number of issues here ...

lack of light intensity .. shown by etoliated leaf stems ...

over watering evidenced by algae growth ...

and the specking makes me wonder about mite damage ....

so ... the point.. if i have one .... is that fert is not going to solve any of those issues ...

i also wonder if humidity is an issue.. if you have a forced air furnace ... in north OH in winter ...

I'm pretty sure Callirhoe triangulata just has long leaf stalks... I don't think it's because of lack of light. I have it growing about 6" below an Agrobrite 4-bulb T5 fixture.

"Leaves are egg-shaped to triangular in outline, straight across to heart-shaped at the base, 2 to 6 inches long, 1 to 4 inches wide, on stalks up to 12 inches long."

Overwatering, maybe. I make sure the soil is dry and the container feels light. It only gets watered about once a week. The original soil I used to sow the seeds was reused potting soil I had outside, so I imagine it already had some algae in it. I didn't even think the seeds would germinate, so I just stuck them in whatever. I'll be more conscientious when watering.

I don't see the speckling that you mention. I've seen spider mite damage on outdoor plants, but the speckling was pretty obvious. I can take a closer look when I get home.

For what it's worth, I also have a few micro dwarf tomato plants growing right next to this one, and they seem to be doing fine.
