Best time for moving roses

I got 2 roses last year in late fall, they are both small and i feel really liked their spot. However, due to aome changes in my garden, I need to move them to a permanent spot. im Thinking spring, but should I wait until they are awaken and going to do this or at the first sign of spring ?

Im afraid to hurt them by doing this too early or too late...?

I’m in central Indiana depending who you ask zone 5 or 6

Do it while they're dormant and they won't even know the difference. Try and get as much rootball as you possibly can and amend the new planting hold as if you're starting from scratch. I live in Cincinnati so I do mine anytime in the next month. Indy is solidly Z6, I believe. It's certainly not any colder that Cincy, although you are always sending rain our way! LOL! : 0

What vaporvac advised. If you wait until they begin leafing out, you will destroy the newly developing feeder root system and set them back.
